Regarding Twitter, Followers, and/or #TeamFollowBack

Preface: I believe in the magic that is ‘exclusivity’ and maintaining exclusive & limiting barriers from the “everybody else” that is.

Now, let’s talk like we’re seven.

If I don’t follow you on Twitter, it’s obviously because I don’t get down with you [like that].

But now, that’s disrespectful when I put it like that.

Perhaps, another way.

You can be my friend and know my address; but just because you know my address, that doesn’t mean I want you to be the first face I see in my living room when I get home.

I don’t need you next to me on MY sofa talking while the TV is on.. whispering in MY ear (Direct Messages).

Soliciting YOUR services to MY neighbors.

It doesn’t mean I don’t respect you and it doesn’t mean I’m “mean”.

It just means, I like a clean house… and, while you’re probably “really cool”, you’re messing up my crib’s aesthetic.

This is a gated community.

I hope this helps, everyone. Now, get out of my chair and take your feet off of the table.

I’m glad we did this. I feel good about it. Good talk.
